The story is written by linking the feelings of Sumikko and the sky. In the TV animation, the five stories of Sumikko and her friends that lead up to the present day are depicted with a gentle hand-drawn touch, maintaining the worldview of the picture book, creating a visualization of “Sumikko Gurashi” that is different from the movie version.
