Tsuruoka, Yamagata prefecture “Kibiso”
The first thread that silkworms spit out when they make cocoons is called kibiso. Because of its uneven thickness and hardness, it has never been used as a raw silk fiber, but it has been used for skin care products because it does have abilities of excellent moisture retention, UV absorption, and antioxidant properties. “Kibiso”, a silk product with a natural and three-dimensional appearance was created using kibiso. In the video, “kibiso”is cute and humorous, and we introduced its origins and charms with silkworms in the form of “kibiso”.
The “Kibiso Brand Awareness Project” of Tsuruoka City and Fanworks, as part of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s 2010 “Industrial Human Resource Fostering Support Project (Human Resource Fostering Project for Regional Video Creators, etc.)”, announced the “Kibiso Brand Awareness Project” with the aim of spreading the Tsuruoka silk brand “kibiso” to the world. We collaborated with the Yamagata Prefecture’s Tsuruoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Tohoku University of Art and Design.
